I guess I will start with what I learned at Wed. night service last week. I learned that normal faith has ups and downs. That is good to know because I have days that I feel I can defeat Satan (not literally) but then I also have days where I feel not so much like that. Bro Tommy made a statement that was very interesting and I had never thought about it like that but it is true. Even through the Word of God, God did not sugar coat, water down, or hide sin. He told it straight up. I find that very comforting to know that even the people of the Bible were not perfect (only Jesus).

Well we got our first round of shots last Friday - boy were our arms sore! Not looking forward to the second round this Friday.

Zac is stepping out on faith and participating in a weekend called D-Now or Disciple Now for 4-6 graders. It is the first weekend in March. Please be in prayer for all of these students. It is a packed worship weekend. He told me he is very excited. We also volunteered our home as a host home but were told that they already had enough homes. Well we found out last Sunday that we get to be a host home!!! Yeah -I am so excited.

Zac had guitar lessons yesterday and he came home playing some Crazy Train by Ozzy Osborne.....oh no....We told him he had to selective on those types of songs!! He is really enjoying his guitar.

Please pray for my grandpa. He fell Monday night and broke his hip. He had surgery last night and did very well. He will have to through therapy and rehab so please pray for him.

Maggie is doing very well in her glasses and has not had any headaches as the doctor told her to expect.

Fun Filled Weekend

Bubba got his passport last week so we can all breathe easy and I won't be traveling alone :)

Well I guess I will start with what we did this weekend -

Friday night Bubba and I had date night. We had dinner and a movie. We had a great time and the movie "Valentine's Day" was great.

Saturday our sweet Maggie had an eye doctor appt. She had been complaining for a few weeks about not being able to see the board. She was so nervous about the appointment. I wish I could have sat in the chair for her but she was a big girl and did great. Well she has to have glasses. The doctor was surprised at how much power she needed and said it was important that she sit in the front of the class until the glasses come in. I felt like a terrible mom.

Maggie woke up Saturday morning sick. I believe she got what Zac had. We also went to Dinner Theatre Saturday. It was great and had a great message. She seemed even sicker on Sunday when she woke up so she stayed with Nana and Pop while we went to church. I had thought I would stay home with her but then remembered Bro. Tommy was doing his series on marriage. I look forward to it each week. She said she was ok to stay with Nana and Pop.

2 Sundays ago we renewed our vows during the sermon. Bubba posted that as his status on facebook and I spoke with friend and she said she told her husband about the status. He said should we not have been invited!!!?? I thought that was too funny - and yes you would have been invited :) This was the Sunday that we were going to go forward and move our membership. He said this past Sunday that he had not planned to do that. I take that as a sign of new beginnings for us.

Well Monday was a holiday for the kids and the weathermen were calling for snow. We begged Bubba to stay home with us and play!! So when he saw snow Monday morning he decided to stay home. The kids had a blast playing in the snow with him and we cooked a big breakfast. We had a great day :)

Tuesday was another snow day and I am getting cabin feverrrrrrr! The eye center called today and said her glasses were in. We went to pick them up and when we got in the car, she was sitting in the back and said I can see the clock on the dash. Just shove the knife in a little deeper!! I felt terrible, but at least she can see now! She was reading all kinds of signs as went down the road! She read the Home Depot sign and said when did they add a T to depot!!!

Zac and I will be traveling to Birmingham tomorrow for the eye doctor for him. Please pray for safe travel.

Another God moment!

Well I received my passport on Saturday but Bubba has not received his yet and he is starting to get nervous. I told him not to worry-we still have 4 weeks until the trip.

I am going to share another God moment but this is from Bubba -He sent this by email to share with someone -

Zac and I went to Hayes Chapel monthly men's meeting. Bro. Eddie gave a devotion about not forgetting what God has done for us and how we are suppose to tell others and let others see it in us. It was an awesome devotion but what happened after that was a God thing (not that the devotion was not). When we walked in Bro. Dean Moore was there. This was a surprise since I knew Dean was not a member and I did not recall him ever being at a men's meeting. After Bro. Eddie finished, I stood up and told the men about the trip and asked them to pray because I was still nervous. After I sat down, Dean stood up and walked to the front and said, "Now I know why I am here." He said, Bubba I'm here to encourage you. He told of the time 11 years ago he went on a mission trip to Vietnam and how it changed his life. He said like me he was nervous but he has been back almost every year since. He told me to go and God would repay me. He said it might not be in money but in His touch and presence. He told me of several God moments he has had on his trips and for me not to miss out. So I am fired up ready to go. Am I still nervous? Why of course just a little but God is good and like I've said before He'll be right there with us. I can't wait to see what God has for us in Guatemala.

That is just amazing to me. When we obey his still small voice we are rewarded! Bubba was encouraged and renewed!

Don't miss an opportunity to encourage someone!

One other thing that stuck with me from last Sunday's message. Bro. Tommy has started a series on marriage and last Sunday was week 2.

He said during the message that we will spend more on an aluminum bat for our child than we will on our marriage for the whole year! WOW that hurts. I can tell you this - that this past year we have spent more on our marriage and the rewards are worth it!

More to come later :)

Starting a blog

So here goes....I usually don't do very well writing. I guess I will first start with telling you a little about me and my family.

I am the wife of a great husband and mother of 2 children. Zac is 12 and Maggie is 9. I am a stay at home mom with the perk of working from home to earn a little extra cash! In 2000, Maggie was born and I quit my job primarily to be a stay at home mom. A little over a year later my boss contacted me and asked me if I would like to do some of the same work I did from home! Praise the Lord! I have been working from home ever since. God is good all the time.

2009 was a very challenging year for us as a family, but we are starting 2010 great.

Here are a few things we are doing this year:

Bubba and I are going to Guatemala during spring break on a mission trip with Mission Firefly. We recently moved our membership to another church. Zac is participating in D-Now in March. I am so excited for the opportunities he will have to grow in his relationship with Jesus! Zac and I are going to Washington DC with the school in October. I am so excited to be sharing this experience with Zac.

The main reason for this blog was to share our experience and pictures of our trip.

Just a little history behind making the decision be involved with missions - I have had a desire to do mission work for a while now but was very comfortable where I was and really didn't know how to go about it....so I believe God allowed some situations in our life to allow me to test my faith or put my faith into action.

One thing that has really stuck with me that Billy said in one of our meetings was we need to make the comfortable uncomfortable- and that was me!

This will be the first time out of the country and 6 days away from our kids and I am nervous!!

We really wanted to go at Christmas but just did not have the money...so we started praying.

We recently reorganized some of our finances and were hoping to go during spring break. Well in the mean time we received a check for an overpayment of insurance for $980.00. Our plane tickets were 989.00. That was definetly a God thing! So I believe that was my confirmation that this is what we are suppose to be doing.

I really hope Zac has the opportunity to go this year. We will continue to pray. Maggie said she was not ready to take all those shots yet! Hopefully the pictures will persuade her to change her mind, but that is her decision! :)
